Over the last few years, Colombia has hit the birding headlines as being a fantastic, new, safe destination, with more species (more than 1900) than any other country in the world. Our guide Diego Calderon has been at the forefront of birding in this his home country and with new hotspots and new species being found all the time, we are delighted to now offer a tour to one of the very best unique areas – Mitú. Here the biodiversity of habitats including Terra Firme, White Sand, Varzea and Riparian Forests hold a multitude of unique species. Many Amazon/Guianan Shield specialties can be found here and sheer variety and quality of the species on offer is astounding. In addtion to the specialties of Mitú, we've included the chance to see a few more unique birds from Bogota including the recently described Cundinamarca Antpitta as well as Blue-throated and Golden-bellied Starfrontlets.

For those that have been to Colombia before or for those wanting to experience somewhere completely different, our Mitú itinerary is a must.
