Featuring!

  • 3 nights in the beautiful Adirondack Park of New York State.
  • Chances for the rare Bicknell's Thrush and several boreal specialties.

The Adirondack Park, established in 1885, comprises some 6.1 million acres, much of which is undeveloped, and includes more than 10,000 lakes, and many thousands of miles of rivers and streams. Its many and varied habitats, from bogs to boreal forest, support healthy populations of unique plants and animals, including rare orchids, moose, and one of New England’s rare breeding birds, Bicknell’s Thrush – a main target for this tour!

Gray Jay by Steve Bird. The Adirondack’s lush landscapes are home to a myriad of breeding birds, including both Red and White-winged Crossbills, Purple Finches, and Hermit and Swainson’s Thrushes. The park supports 21 species of nesting warblers including Mourning, Palm, Nashville, Tennessee, Cape May, Canada, Northern Waterthrush, Blackpoll, and the spectacular Blackburnian.

In its bogs and mires are such treats as breeding Yellow-bellied and Olive-sided Flycatchers, nesting Lincoln’s Sparrows and Mourning Warblers, and the possibility of finding the increasingly rare Rusty Blackbird. Bald Eagles, Merlin, and Sandhill Cranes also nest within the park.

We’ll search verdant boreal forests for area specialties such as Northern Goshawks, Black-backed Woodpeckers, Gray Jays, and shy Boreal Chickadees and Spruce Grouse.

Join us for a chance to hear the reedy song of the Bicknell’s Thrush echoing off mountain peaks. Experience the boreal haunts of Black-backed Woodpecker, Boreal Chickadee and Gray Jay, and grab a chance to glimpse a moose, a playful mink, or see an otter fishing.

Imagine awaking to the mournful cries of a Common Loon floating across a misty lake.  It's all here in the Adirondacks — a wild place with all the comforts of home.  We hope you will join us!
